NATIONAL IMPACT: U.S. CLIENTS & NGO DATA PROJECTS

BIG BROTHERS AND BIG SISTERS OF AMERICA

The Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America (BBBS) Youthcase Hackathon project is a community-driven initiative aimed at developing a robust digital platform to manage, monitor, and analyze the activities and interactions within youth centers. This initiative required creating a full-stack solution that integrates a mobile app, web interface, backend server, and a comprehensive database, all designed to enhance the operational efficiency of youth centers while providing valuable insights into youth engagement. link to full article

Role: Lead Data Engineer & Full-Stack Developer
Focus: Real-time youth tracking, mentoring workflows, and secure data integration

I led the end-to-end design and deployment of a full-stack digital system for Big Brothers & Big Sisters of America, transforming how centers track youth engagement and mentoring sessions.

What the system does

  • Enables real-time youth tracking, including attendance, activities, and mentoring sessions.

  • Provides an integrated workflow for scheduling, rescheduling, and documenting mentor–mentee interactions.

  • Implements secure data workflows that respect privacy while giving staff and leadership the information they need to keep youth safe and supported.

  • Replaces scattered spreadsheets and manual logs with a centralized, role-based web portal that staff can access from anywhere.

Impact for the organization

  • Used by centers to track attendance, engagement, and volunteer interactions in a structured, auditable way.

  • Improves program reporting quality with clean, analyzable data that can be used for funding reports, board updates, and impact evaluations.

  • Increases transparency and youth safety by making it easier to see who is meeting with whom, how often, and whether follow-ups are happening on time.

  • Creates a foundation for future analytics and dashboards (program completion, risk flags, equity metrics) without re-architecting the system.

Mesa Farm

Mesa Farm is a youth development and community support initiative serving families across multiple locations. I partnered with their team to build a mobile-first platform that manages check-ins, mentorship scheduling, and communication with participants. The system gives staff real-time visibility into engagement while keeping all data organized and secure.

Role: Solution Architect & Developer
Focus: Mobile-first engagement, check-ins, and communication for youth programs

For Mesa Farm, I designed a mobile-first platform that supports youth development and community programs operating across different locations.

What the system does

  • Provides a streamlined check-in/check-out experience for youth and families, optimized for phones and tablets.

  • Supports mentorship scheduling, reminders, and follow-ups so staff can manage high volumes of participants without losing context.

  • Integrates push notifications and messaging to keep families informed about sessions, events, and critical updates.

  • Captures structured data that feeds into analytics views, helping program leads understand participation trends, engagement, and resource needs.

Impact for the organization

  • Strengthens the digital infrastructure for youth and family programs that previously relied on manual or semi-digital processes.

  • Gives leadership a clearer picture of which programs are most active, which locations need support, and where engagement is dropping off.

  • Supports scalability across states by using a cloud-based architecture that can adapt as new sites and partners are added.

  • Helps social-impact teams do what they do best—work directly with families and youth—while the system quietly handles data capture and organization in the background.

For The Need Foundation

What the organization does
For The Need Foundation is a nonprofit based in Simi Valley, California, focused on helping underprivileged youth and families overcome adversity, break cycles of poverty and homelessness, and realize their full potential. Their core work centers on mentorship programs like Bow & Arrow, which combine goal setting, emotional wellness, life skills, and community support for children and teens facing difficult circumstances.

My role – AI-driven mentorship platform modernization
As a volunteer Data/AI Engineer with Code For Good, I am part of the team helping For The Need Foundation secure and automate their mentorship platform. Our work includes: Code For Good

  • Designing cloud architecture on Azure and Microsoft 365 to protect sensitive youth data and streamline day-to-day operations.

  • Implementing AI-powered safety features such as profanity detection and data protection in their real-time chat module, so mentors can communicate safely with youth.

  • Building toward a full agentic AI automation layer using n8n for workflow orchestration—reducing manual admin work and giving staff more time to focus on direct mentorship.

This project shows my ability to combine cloud security, AI, and workflow automation in a real social-impact setting, where reliability and data protection for vulnerable youth are critical.

Code For Good

What the organization does
Code For Good is an accredited tech-based nonprofit that empowers other nonprofits through digital transformation and AI adoption. Established in 2024, the organization mobilizes volunteers—students, professionals, and people returning to the workforce—to build scalable, cost-effective platforms that can save partner nonprofits 20% or more of their manual time, allowing them to focus on their core mission. Code For Good

My role – Volunteer Data Engineer & Platform Builder
As a volunteer with Code For Good, I serve as a Data Engineer and full-stack developer on multiple flagship projects, including:

  • Mesa Farm Portal – Helped build an end-to-end automation system for a nonprofit serving homeless youth (18–25), including admin, volunteer, and participant portals using Flutter, AWS Amplify, and Node.js, with a strong focus on automation and data structure for future analytics. Code For Good

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters Youth Engagement Platform – Contributed to a secure, mobile-friendly platform that tracks youth center traffic and mentoring activities, integrating cloud infrastructure and data workflows that later inspired Code For Good’s incorporation as a nonprofit. Code For Good

  • For The Need Foundation – Leading data and AI pieces to secure their mentorship platform, implement AI safety checks, and move toward an agentic AI workflow for day-to-day operations. Code For Good

Through Code For Good, I’ve been able to architect production systems, apply AI responsibly, and mentor other volunteers, while delivering real, measurable impact for nonprofits that otherwise wouldn’t have access to this level of technology.

Why These Deployed Systems Matter

Across all NGOs, my role has been to:

  • Own the full lifecycle – from problem discovery and requirements to architecture, development, deployment, and handoff.

  • Balance technology, data privacy, and real-world operations, making sure systems are secure but also simple enough for non-technical staff.

  • Deliver solutions that are not just prototypes, but live, maintained, and actively used by frontline staff and leadership.

  • Build reusable patterns—authentication, role-based access, audit logging, and analytics-ready data models—that I now apply to public-health and government data projects.

These projects demonstrate my ability to take mission-driven ideas and turn them into working, production-grade platforms that create measurable value for communities.
